Effortless Chic

No matter how effortless my outfits appear, the truth is I put effort into all my looks. So how to be stylish without looking like you’re trying too hard? Here’s some thoughts – Strike an overall balance – It’s never about JUST the clothes – the hair is important, the accessories are too, and certainly don’t forget about the makeup. These are the three things I consider before I assemble any looks (Fancy, effortless, or sloppy): Fancy – all 3 elements need to be on point, the bare basics include: no-frizz hair,  wrinkle free garments, and make-up that takes at least 10 minutes to put on Effortless – you can grab your everyday casual tee and match it with some comfortable boyfriend/mom/distressed jeans or whatever’s comfortable for you. But remember, you need good hair, straight or curled. And depending on how sassy you feel on that day, you can choose how much make-up you want (the more the sassier obviously). This is so that your vibe says: I’m definitely able to take good care of …

How I Wear My Tees

Happy Friday everyone! Here’s a quick OOTD showing you guys how I style my simple T-shirts! I followed the Adidas trend religiously last year, and I wanted to give the tees some love this summer as well. But really for this look, any T-shirts would do, even ones from the men’s section (like this one!). Most girls shy away from t-shirts because it’s difficult to achieve a flattering look with them. So here’s some tips for you guys to rock t-shirts on any given summer day. Or fall. Or winter. Or spring. Haha. Roll up the sleeves – I know, the sleeves are already short, but folding it up a couple times can turn up the cuteness and down the sloppiness (although I hope you can fold it better than me…I kind of failed here). In my case, since it’s a men’s t-shirt, the sleeves are extremely roomy, so doing so was necessary. Cut the hem – I always feared shirts with awkward lengths – too long to define my upper body, but too short to be a dress. So my solution would …

Varsity Chic

With celebrities like Cara Delevingne and Rihanna rocking varsity jackets like never before, the look caught on in 2014 and since then, there have been many  modern updates and variations to the style. It’s no longer longer a boyish look for athletes, instead it became a fashion icon that no one questions – the ones who wear it love it, and those who don’t wear it understand the charm. With that said, the varsity look was taken to new heights. I’m going through a varsity phase myself and you’ll more looks in upcoming posts. THIS, though, is my all time favorite varsity piece from Adidas Originals. When putting together this look I tried to stay away from layering too much because the jacket itself can already seem bulky. It’s more flattering when it’s simple & streamlined. As usual I like to land a feel between masculine and feminine, so I layered a thin tank with some witty crossovers in the front.  I went with white pants and white shoes because…I just didn’t want to be boring 🙂 the combination may seem simple, but it’s an eye catching one. But …

Cotton Candy

All designers want their work to stand out, and color palettes are a powerful tool as they draw attention and showcase creativity. A growing trend in web design is the use of less dominant colors, along with a shift towards pastel colors. Pastel colors are simply magical to me, while being peaceful and modest, they project a vibe of positivity and warmth. It requires the right kind of mix to achieve a good balance between color and tone when wearing light colors, since it’s easy to look washed out. Here’s an outfit I put together, casual, brightening, along with a bag from Kate Spade that reminds me of cotton candy.       As usual, hope you guys liked the outfit. I know my sense of style isn’t for everyone, so thanks for your support along the way. ❤

Superstars

Adidas Superstars – a notable piece of childhood, and sneakers that killed the heels.  We’ve been pretty crazy over Stan Smiths, but the hype has found its way to Stan’s fabulous big brothers. Somehow the bright white, the thick soles, and the 3 black lines just make perfect sense. Also, I have to admit as much as I love heels, I somehow always end up cheating my way out of them by finding such comfortable alternatives. I’ve made peace with the fact that I grow older faster than I become wiser, so I like to embrace youthful vibes while I still can, and tend to gravitate towards city inspired sporty chic looks, like this one. The interesting thing about fashion is that it is  dangerously contagious. A couple years back, a nice dress paired with sneakers would be heavily ridiculed for lack of taste and class. And look how far we’ve come, along the high fashion runways, along celeb endorsements, and along local fashion bloggers that inspire everyday fashion. Can you remember why we thought what we love today was ridiculous? Because fashion …

Styling Adidas (Pt. II)

As mentioned in my previous post, I styled the same garments a little differently to bring about a different vibe! I un-tucked my tee and swapped the heels for these slippers to present you my stylish grocery shopping look….haha 🙂 I love everything about this outfit because I adore big loose tees, can’t stand wearing pants (they are just the most restricting thing), and not to mention my toes loved the freedom. Even in the absence of class and elegance, this is very much effortless chic and I love it as it suits me. One way to not look sloppy when wearing an oversized tee that’s clearly too big for you, is to fold up the sleeves 🙂 It’s all in the details! You’re awesome for checking out my post, have a nice day! ❤

Styling Adidas (Pt. I)

Adidas has always been awesome with its legendary classics. But starting a few years ago, they’ve been getting even better. A shift in style that coincided with the 2010 hiring of creative director Dirk Schönberger has made them one of the most popular brands in the world. I too, have been preaching Adidas sneakers, which will soon present themselves on my blog. But for now, I wanted to show you guys the Adidas original printed tee that I got my hands on 🙂 It’s indeed a sports brand, but that doesn’t mean its product can’t be a fashion accessory. I’ve always really liked the Adidas logo design, may it be Original or Performance. I’ve captured another look with the same Adidas tee. For such a versatile piece, I must wear it to my heart’s content. Please stay tuned for Styling Adidas Part II 🙂

The School Girl

Oh em gee, my current obsession! A while ago I’ve given some love to the T-shirt dresses in this look. And now I’m back with more! This trend was prevailing in Asia, and is now creeping the local markets! If you are shying away from body-con dresses, this can be your alternative. It doesn’t contribute to a “sexy” look because it’s loosely fitted, but your body will thank you for how relieving and forgiving it is! It also gives off that effortless chic feel and bring out the cuteness in you. To enhance the look, I wore a watch, a backpack and paired some sneakers. I want to call this one – the school girl look 🙂 Sneakers right now is THE trend, and if you preach it like I do, you’re probably on your way to get a pair of Stan Smith right this moment if you don’t already own one.  My pair was purchased from Zooshoo (as seen in my previous posts), it isn’t from Adidas because, well, I’ve splurged enough for one summer 🙂
