Pretty in White

It’s always been a love-hate relationship with the shade white, because although it brightens every look and brings a youthful vibe, it just gets stained so easily. But that’s OK, I’ll just have to be extra careful :). Here I have my favorite chic cape-blazer from Zara matched with culottes of the same texture (don’t you just love the black ribbons for the contrast it brings about?). I’ve also added some neutrals and golds throughout the look without taking away too much from the outfit.

The Retro

The conscious derivative or imitative of trends, modes, fashions, or attitudes of the recent past – I know retro when I see it. Modern designers and fashion houses have massive archives of vintage garments from which they draw inspiration and reinterpret for contemporary fashion. I am often reminded how close a lot of modern designs comes to replicating older garments. Having said that, the outfit here is an example. The Coca-cola graphic tee and baggy trousers with intense 80s vibes had me turning heads. I bought these two pieces on separate occasions without being entirely certain how I’ll style them. Then I quickly made a brave decision to work with what I have and test out the green and red combination, complemented by some gold accessories that add to the warm tones. Many thinks green and red together is a big fashion no-no because it’s too easy to look like Christmas, let alone stylish. But I think as long as you incorporate elements of modern fashion (e.g. the crop top, the trendy accessories, the ombre, etc.), …

Warm Hues

Daily essentials reimagined with a modern minimalist approach is what Oak + Fort stands for. I’ve been not only a fan of the style, but also a regular customer. This outfit was assembled with pieces from Oak + Fort, including the orange turtleneck jumper, the velvet joggers, and the boyfriend jacket. The coherent warm hues in the jacket’s pattern and the jumper, complemented by the heavy tones and chunky feel from the pants, purse and shoes, synthesized this stylish and appropriate look for the chilly weather.

Winter Culottes

Winter wardrobe can really feel redundant when it’s always the same jackets and denim pants keeping you warm, so it’s nice to spark some fashion inspiration by introducing unconventional items into the wardrobe. My creative spirit picked the cropped, wide-leg pants,  which may seem counterintuitive in the cold, but with the right styling, culottes can easily be part of your winter outfit routine. Here’s some tips:

Winter & Cool Tones

Among the colors practiced by the street styles of the world, there are two shades that are unusually and consistently styled together: pale pink and grey – a stunning favourite of mine. The two team up to deliver an outfit that is minimalist, sleek, chic, and let’s not forget feminine. For this look I’ve evenly distributed the pink and grey and added some white to dilute the intensity of the mix. Many may challenge that these colors are a tad too light for winter weather, but I personally think cool tones in winter time are way too underrated :-).

OOTD: Feeling Casual

I don’t always wake up feeling the same, and how I feel influences how I style myself that day. Sometimes I wake up feeling brand new, and so would my fashion sense, so I’d go ahead and pull out a stunning classic which has been sitting at the bottom of my closet for a season or two. On other days I wake up feeling a little less ecstatic, and no surprise that would translate my style to “lazy” and “casual”. But even when I don’t feel all that great, I still refuse to look sloppy or wear colours that won’t go with each other in a million years. I’d still want to look put together to uplift my spirits. This was one of those less ecstatic days. I wore my stretchy long bodycon providing me full coverage and allowing me to move freely. I then threw on my cozy army green bomber from Zara for some modest refinement to my outfit. I also quickly recognized that this was a look that my trusty Superstars would not fail. And voila! In terms of …

Mixing Neutrals

There’s something so chic and elegant about being able to mix neutral tones in an outfit. Neutrals are generally very easy on the eye and are often overlooked on the streets, but mashing three or more neutrals together can make the outfit a little more eye-catching and a little less ordinary. I’m not recommending a safe combos like black & grey, beige & white, etc. Instead, try beige and grey, army green and grey, and so on to see if it has the effect you want to create. By wearing more neutral shades, it quickly amps up the chic without adding too much noise. Neutrals don’t have to be boring, so go test your creativity. 🙂

Styling Waterfall Coat

Christmas and new years in Toronto are always so cold that I find myself constantly shopping for outerwear during this season. I fell in love with this waterfall coat the moment I saw it on sale on Shein.com. I adored the neutral tone and the ankled length – making it a classic timeless piece. In general waterfall coats are versatile, in winter it’s best matched with turtle necks and jeans whereas in spring and fall you can rock it with a simple tee or tank. This coat is medium in thickness so it’s even more flexible and seasons friendly, remember to always wear some pumps for additional sass and flare and let the coat fall beautifully at your ankles. ❤ P.S. Happy new year everyone! I had a great 2016 and I welcome 2017 with open arms 🙂 As a fashion new year resolution, I plan to be more adventurous and open to experiment with new styles, I’m optimistic that pleasant surprises await me 🙂 Outfit Details: Jacket – Shein | Jeans – Zara | Shoes – Aldo | Sweater – Boutique Thank you for reading lovelies, what …

Patched Denim Jacket

Beautifuls, I bring you a recent favourite of mine – denim jacket with patches. Designers often look to the past to design for the future, and here’s a product of that. I remember in grade school I used to love decorating my sweaters and jackets with pins and stickers, who’d think that I was one futuristic cookie? 😎 The jacket I’m wearing is from fashionmia.com – If you love sales and deals like I do, then you’d love this site. I was ultra excited to discover them because they have trendy and affordable pieces without compromised quality. When I received my jacket I remember being so impressed with the material considering I got it on sale for only 15 dollars, such a steal! Definitely check out their site, I just bought another item from their flash sale going on right now! The key to style any contemporary pieces is to embrace simple compliments in the outfit to turn down the loudness, like the monochrome croptop and skirt I have here. It’s also critical to at the same time have other bold elements in the look to turn up the chic, may …
