#TBT + Thoughts

Look what I dug out! A look I shot some time last year but never made the cut. Here they are again, in spirit of celebrating the warm days ahead. Oh and, have a quote, maybe a haiku too, or two 🙂 “Don’t underestimate the value of Doing Nothing, of just going along, listening to all the things you can’t hear, and not bothering.” Winnie the Pooh I just lost my socks, And maybe much more than that, It’s summer again. I made a haiku, Although you won’t understand, Here’s another one.

Embroidery

Whether it is to stand out on the streets, or to feel youthful, embroidery and patches has become the hottest go-to for the younger generations today. Women’s dress shirts and denim bomber jackets are where embroideries or patches are most commonly seen.  And this sunny LA afternoon is no exception. In an earlier post, I’ve demonstrated the rebellious and trendy look of patches on denim bomber, and here I took a different spin on the trend, which touches deeper of the oriental roots. The origins of embroidery can be traced back to Ancient China, where people would sew and capture the beauty of nature (i.e. flowers) and animals (i.e. dragons) on garments as decorations. Because they’re often patched onto silk garments, it was considered a luxury and only the wealthy had the privilege. When I spotted this jacket from Zara, I was instantly drawn to that very combination nostalgically presented on a modern bomber.

Styling Waterfall Coat

Christmas and new years in Toronto are always so cold that I find myself constantly shopping for outerwear during this season. I fell in love with this waterfall coat the moment I saw it on sale on Shein.com. I adored the neutral tone and the ankled length – making it a classic timeless piece. In general waterfall coats are versatile, in winter it’s best matched with turtle necks and jeans whereas in spring and fall you can rock it with a simple tee or tank. This coat is medium in thickness so it’s even more flexible and seasons friendly, remember to always wear some pumps for additional sass and flare and let the coat fall beautifully at your ankles. ❤ P.S. Happy new year everyone! I had a great 2016 and I welcome 2017 with open arms 🙂 As a fashion new year resolution, I plan to be more adventurous and open to experiment with new styles, I’m optimistic that pleasant surprises await me 🙂 Outfit Details: Jacket – Shein | Jeans – Zara | Shoes – Aldo | Sweater – Boutique Thank you for reading lovelies, what …

Goodbye Summer, And My Favorite Trend

Off-the-shoulder tops have been this season’s calling. I was obsessed all summer, actually, I have been obsessed for as long as I can remember, so to me it’s simply timeless. Here’s some handpicked looks which I adore too much to not share. Read on! 🙂 The straight-across! (Image 1 and 3) I always thought a woman’s collar bone and shoulders are intricate body parts that can express the unique charms of femininity. The straight-across off-shoulder top does exactly that! They also conveniently hide any arm fat in case you worry that you’re a little too plum to show so much skin, now that’s what I call functional. The full sleeves! (Image 2) Although the full sleeves are similar to a straight-across style and are absolute head turners, it can be a little intimidating to pull off since it suits slimmer women better. The full sleeves tend to start closer to the elbows and below the chest line, and would look best when contrasted with thin arms. This dressy shirt brings the look of “almost falling off” and adds the irresistible touch of mystery. The straight-across with ruffles! (Image …

6.5 Things I learned By 25

Hello beautifuls! I recently turned 25, and wanted to share some thoughts (hopefully constructive) I collected throughout the years. Now of course my experiences are unique to me, but I hope you’re able to relate to some of these as well. Enjoy. 🙂 1. Never say never – Take a jog down memory lane, how many times have you said something like “I would never do that” or “I’ll never accept that” or even “I’ll never date someone who__”, and have gone back on your words? What I find is that the older we are, the more open minded we become. We see more, hear more, and find less and less things unacceptable as years go by. So be open-minded, and think twice before arriving at such conclusive statements and trap yourself in limitations you create yourself. 2. Polish yourself even when no one’s looking – Preach. I invest effort into the way I look and present myself, no matter the occasion. Although it might be unrealistic that you’ll meet your dream guy while grocery shopping, but you might run into a high school arch-enemy and wished that you showered before coming …

Spring Camel Coat I

“In the Spring, I have counted 136 different kinds of weather inside of 24 hours.” -Mark Twain. A quote that cannot describe Toronto weather better. It’s almost mid April, and there’s been an uncanny mixture of sunlight, rain and snow (yes, snow, as matter of fact I’m seeing snowflakes outside right at this moment). I like mild seasons, but I’ll take Fall over Spring any day – it’s just a lot more mature and stable. Although, if I were to give Spring some credit, I do think it’s quite a symbolic season. To me it can symbolize a fresh start, perhaps aspire for something new and adventurous along with the blooming trees and flowers; it goes without saying that it ain’t easy to start anything, hence it isn’t always going to be petals and sunshine. There will be rainy chilly days, but we’ll adapt, and eventually smell the petrichor that accompanies the rain. How can we moderate the bumpiness of spring you ask? The answer is obvious! – be stylish, with some spring camel coats :-). Some fashion trends fade, some make come backs with time, and some others have staying …

Marc by Marc Jacobs

Hello beautifuls! This post is dedicated to my love for watches! I love all things both stylish and functional, so watches definitely belong in this category. I own two MJ watches and I’ll show them off today! Since I never bothered to look up their official names, I named them myself 🙂 Mod Chic Brown Pretty In Pink Both these watches were bought from Watch Station. The store hold watches from many brands such as MJ, Armani, Fossil, MK, DKNY, etc. The best part about the shops is these amazing sales they host! Both of the watches you see here were priced under $70 each! The quality on the other hand are not exactly top notch, but I’m certainly not complaining since you get what you pay for! I bought these at two separate visits of the shop. I’ve always loved brown leather strap w/ clean watch face combo, so when I saw Mod Chic Brown I did not even blink before pulling out my wallet. 🙂 And Pretty In Pink? Which girl could resist? I thought it was a fabulous find for the summer …

“Perfect” Isn’t Enemy of “Good”

Happy Sunday everyone! This isn’t a fashion post, because I wanted to share with you my thoughts inspired by this picture below: don’t let perfect be the enemy of good. I tend to be an over achiever in whatever I do, because well, I like to impress. Plus who doesn’t like to accomplish? Being this way allows me to succeed in many things, but there are down sides – I always feel like I could be better and so, I would overlook my accomplishments thinking they are trivial. This slowly made me forget how to be happy over my feats. I slowly realized that being able to take joy in successes is extremely important, may it be big or small. It’s good to aim high and set standards, but it’s also important to know that there will always be someone better, and you are never going to be perfect because no one is. So ladies, know your strengths, feel confident, celebrate your accomplishments! Being content with your accomplishment doesn’t mean you’ll stop there. It’s a reward for your efforts, it builds …
