I’m constantly exposed to fashion inspired by K-Pop, and lately my style seems to be gravitating towards that way. If you want to know how to dress like your favorite K-Pop idols, here’s some tips, read on! You need nice shoes – They don’t have to be expensive, but high heels aren’t only for fancy occasions in Korea. I’d opt for heel pumps for summer and quality/clean sneakers or boots for cooler weathers. Having the shoes down can set a good foundation for your Korean styling. No revealing tops! – It’s rare to catch cleavage (or even shoulders!) in Korean fashion, it’s simply not fit for their culture, instead they prefer more modest and cutesy tunics. But, they do embrace bold colors, which are eye-catching in a different way. Short shorts/skirts – Don’t shy away from showing off your legs! Your favorite K-pop idols likely embrace matching short shorts/skirts with bomber jackets or sweaters. Who says fashion has to be season/temperature friendly? How I Wear My Tees (Pt 2)

I’m back with another T-shirt special! If you haven’t seen the other look and tips I shared, check it out here! Compared with the previous look, I like this one just a tad more simply because it’s more slimming :-). The key is to wear 1. Dark colored top and 2. tight denim skirt that’s 1-2 inches longer than your typical short shorts so that it conveniently hides the thickest part of your thighs – all together this will create the illusion of petite top, fuller hips, and skinnier legs. Stripes, stripes, stripes

It’s true, wearing vertical stripes has a slim effect, whereas wearing horizontal stripes has the opposite. But there’s something about horizontal stripes that I find so visually pleasing and chic, perhaps because the perfectly parallel lines make any tops look more refined and hence easier to dress them up or down. I fully embraced the stripes here with this dress, but hey, color black is slimming so I didn’t feel too bad about it.I accessorized with mostly black – hat; earrings; shoes;watch, with a mild pop of color with my all time favorite ice cream purse. Not your typical OOTD, but hope you like this! 🙂

Happy Friday everyone! Here’s a quick OOTD showing you guys how I style my simple T-shirts! I followed the Adidas trend religiously last year, and I wanted to give the tees some love this summer as well. But really for this look, any T-shirts would do, even ones from the men’s section (like this one!). Most girls shy away from t-shirts because it’s difficult to achieve a flattering look with them. So here’s some tips for you guys to rock t-shirts on any given summer day. Or fall. Or winter. Or spring. Haha. Roll up the sleeves – I know, the sleeves are already short, but folding it up a couple times can turn up the cuteness and down the sloppiness (although I hope you can fold it better than me…I kind of failed here). In my case, since it’s a men’s t-shirt, the sleeves are extremely roomy, so doing so was necessary. Cut the hem – I always feared shirts with awkward lengths – too long to define my upper body, but too short to be a dress. So my solution would …

Styling Culottes

I’m definitely a late adopter of the culottes trend. My first impression of the trend was…who brought these back from the 90s? At a glance these wide legged pants strip femininity away from any outfit, and if people are going to wear it like a maxi skirt, then why not just wear a maxi skirt? So I went from the initial resistance, to repeatedly seeing these everywhere I go, to finally giving in to the FOMO (fear of missing out) mindset that “If others can rock it, then I can too”. It didn’t take long before I realized the benefits of wearing culottes, it intelligently hides shape imperfections on the lower body, such as a overly wide or narrow hip, thicker thigh areas and lack of perfectly straight legs. The biggest sell point is obviously the comfort, it’s not an overstatement when I say these are more comfortable than sweatpants, and at the same time easily score higher on the chic meter. Styling Blue Lace

Lace – a French thing, a graceful embellishment to any outfits. I always felt like it isn’t for everyone, because sometimes it just feels like too much for casual wear due to its noble lineage – it requires advanced handcraft to put together, and it’s seen very often in haute couture and wedding dresses. I also feel like although elegant, the garment itself looks very busy, and it always ends up stealing the focus of the look instead of complimenting the complexion. I purchased this collared blue lace top from Zara, thinking I should add some mature and sexy vibes to my wardrobe. How did I do? Although with the addition of the Peter Pan collar, I might’ve ended up looking more cute and preppy than mature. A key suggestion is to always wear skin colored garment or underwear beneath any colored sheer lace top to avoid having too much going on, or else it really takes away from the design, and further pans the simplicity. The fashion police says you should not have more than three colors in one outfit, so I took the liberty of wearing a red lipstick …

Youthful Vibe

Piercings, make-up, revealing and sophisticated looking clothes at a younger age defined my desire to look more mature, and be able to blend in with the older crowd. So it seems I’m kicking like Benjamin Button, and have it all backwards. T-shirts, sneakers, and cute backpacks that I would’ve once thought looked too childish, are things I’ve developed an ineffable appreciation for. Youth is precious, anyone would agree to that, but like many of us, we don’t catch on until it starts slipping. And the realization hits hard, likely when the unpaid credit card bills (which only seem to get bigger every month) start getting delivered to your doors. I’m digging youthful vibes lately, maybe part of that is me compensating and proving to myself that I still can be. Don’t worry, I’m not in denial. I just became appreciative of what I once missed. I’m a believer that our attires should reflect who we are and bring the best out of us. Given that I have a multi-faceted personality, I do have a lot of freedom in expressing myself through fashion. And this one is the little rebel in me. It’s a rather masculine look – all black, Adidas footwear, and a dress that doesn’t hug my body. The choker is the cherry on top, but what puts things into perspectives is the frontal low cut that adds femininity to the look. As an Asian girl growing up in Western society, I had my fair share of insecurities for my body, and there were certain styles that I thought I’d never experiment with despite my appreciation for them. Gender Neutrals

I’ve always been a fan of the female body silhouette and fancy anything that compliments my figure, but recently I find myself blurring the lines by wearing gender neutral styles and tones. It’s strange, I no longer mind buying clothes that are sizes up my normal fit, and no longer feel self-conscious about wearing loosely fitted pants. Somehow flat hipped jeans and shapeless dresses have sneaked their way into my wardrobe. Perhaps it’s an age thing, or perhaps it’s another form of confidence. As street style continues to prevail in the market, it’s clear that although the gender neutrals reflect designers’ curiosity, they aren’t accidents – they’ve pretty much dominated the conversation. The best part is that it works both ways, as I shop in men’s section, I also see men shop in women’s. It takes some open minds, but it seems function and individuality are now held in higher regards than an uniform idea of what’s conventionally appropriate.
