Effortless Chic

No matter how effortless my outfits appear, the truth is I put effort into all my looks. So how to be stylish without looking like you’re trying too hard? Here’s some thoughts – Strike an overall balance – It’s never about JUST the clothes – the hair is important, the accessories are too, and certainly don’t forget about the makeup. These are the three things I consider before I assemble any looks (Fancy, effortless, or sloppy): Fancy – all 3 elements need to be on point, the bare basics include: no-frizz hair,  wrinkle free garments, and make-up that takes at least 10 minutes to put on Effortless – you can grab your everyday casual tee and match it with some comfortable boyfriend/mom/distressed jeans or whatever’s comfortable for you. But remember, you need good hair, straight or curled. And depending on how sassy you feel on that day, you can choose how much make-up you want (the more the sassier obviously). This is so that your vibe says: I’m definitely able to take good care of …

How I Wear My Tees (Pt 2)

I’m back with another T-shirt special! If you haven’t seen the other look and tips I shared, check it out here! Compared with the previous look, I like this one just a tad more simply because it’s more slimming :-). The key is to wear 1. Dark colored top and 2. tight denim skirt that’s 1-2 inches longer than your typical short shorts so that it conveniently hides the thickest part of your thighs – all together this will create the illusion of petite top, fuller hips, and skinnier legs. So what do you think? Which looks did you like more! Let me know in the comments section! ❤

The School Girl

Oh em gee, my current obsession! A while ago I’ve given some love to the T-shirt dresses in this look. And now I’m back with more! This trend was prevailing in Asia, and is now creeping the local markets! If you are shying away from body-con dresses, this can be your alternative. It doesn’t contribute to a “sexy” look because it’s loosely fitted, but your body will thank you for how relieving and forgiving it is! It also gives off that effortless chic feel and bring out the cuteness in you. To enhance the look, I wore a watch, a backpack and paired some sneakers. I want to call this one – the school girl look 🙂 Sneakers right now is THE trend, and if you preach it like I do, you’re probably on your way to get a pair of Stan Smith right this moment if you don’t already own one.  My pair was purchased from Zooshoo (as seen in my previous posts), it isn’t from Adidas because, well, I’ve splurged enough for one summer 🙂

Let It Loose

I love dressing up to look refined and pretty 🙂 but even then I have my lazy days. This was one of those days! I wanted to wear simple, comfortable/loose clothing, and enjoy the nice weather in nothing but comfort. As much as I love to embrace natural and effortless looks, I’ll still never abandon style. Comfort and style definitely aren’t substitutes and are complementary when matched and accessorized correctly. The tee I’m wearing is shapeless and very thin in material, so I matched it with a tight fitting maxi skirt which provides a shape. The look overall is very lazy, but I stacked my boho bracelets to accessorize – they vary in size & patterns and look randomized, contributing to this “effortless” look, while embracing the boho feel. Hah, don’t you just love this “Be Pretty” message? As if it’s so easy 😛 I got this at the plus section of Forever21! I wear a small or XSmall most of the time, but I picked this up when I was looking for a long loose tee and going to the + section seemed like a good …

Touch of Orient

Hello everyone! Hope you are having a lovely Wednesday! After today it will soon be the weekend 🙂 Over the weekend I shot a outfit which I always loved, a very feminine look with a touch of orient. I achieved it by wearing this beautiful blouse. The print reminded me greatly of Ink Wash Paintings from Asia, may it be Japan or China. The water colored prints especially emphasize so. The blouse top has the color black as outline, so with no question I matched it with a black lacy skirt consisted of a black slip, and a layer of flowery lace. I could have picked one of two colors for the shoes to match the look – black or coral. I decided to go with these cute coral heels, to amp up the femininity and also to go with the warmer weather. To tone down the loudness of my shirt, I picked flowery and light colored designs for earrings and my ring. Heres’s more shots of the look! Click on them to view the slideshow! Thanks for viewing everyone! Hope you liked the outfit! …

Men’s Section?

We’ve all seen cross dressing among children, little boys dressed up in tutu dresses and little girls in tom boy caps. But just because we grow older doesn’t necessarily mean we must grow out of it 🙂 There are certainly things I appreciate about men’s fashion, such as its simplicity, masculinity and definition. This is especially the case when I am going for a “tough girl” or “street” look. For example, if you are looking for a motor jacket, you need to try the men’s section, there are just more styles there! And since they are meant to be a little baggy, a size small for men would be perfect for girls with a small/medium fit. Here I have a Tee from H&M men’s section (can you tell?), for $20. I’ve been loving this long Tee trend in men’s fashion, and I decided to personally embrace it as well, because a long Tee for men means it’s a casual & street chic T-shirt dress for me 🙂

Denim Suspenders

Yep, back with another suspenders look 🙂 (And there will be more!) I’ll try not to bore you with all these suspenders but I just love love love them! 🙂 Suspenders are from Suzy Shier, at about $50. Suzy’s stuff is stylish but the quality isn’t the best – so I’d consider this a splurge actually. The tee is from Zara, it was only around $15! Loved the simple white Tee and loved the message on it – No one is perfect! I recently wrote about not letting perfect be the enemy of good, feel free to check it out here. Isn’t this the most adorable necklace? It’s an owl on a chain! If you aren’t a style blogger you may not appreciate how hard it is to find a nice setting to shoot! Luckily there is a beach nearby my place, surrounded by interesting buildings and parks. I was thrilled to have found this little corner 🙂 The shoes are also from Suzy’s! This was on sale, under $10! If you are into comfortable shoes, these are heavenly! …

Supergirl & Her Suspenders

Hey everyone! I’m back with two personal favorites – Suspenders and Superman. Superman’s been my favorite superhero since I was a little girl, I just couldn’t pass on this Tee when I spotted it at H&M! It was about $15. It is cotton and very light, perfect for days with big sun! The suspenders shorts with leather straps were $50 from Guess. I rarely shop at Guess any more, but I must admit they have some pretty unique chic stuff. Aside from the leather straps, I also loved the color fade on the shorts! It is quite hard to have fades on dark colored jeans without it looking cheap, but Guess pulled it off well with this design! I threw on a fedora hat to dress up the outfit, although there are many types of hats that would work with suspenders, such as caps or trucker hats if you are going for a naughty look. I certainly did not think any earrings would work with this outfit, so I decided to stay away from anything dangly …

My Spring Coat

Hello beautifuls! Spring has arrived! Temperature is rising, trees are blooming and birds are singing! But – it’s still not summer, so you still need a coat! To be honest, I had to really make up my mind getting this jacket – it is $80 from H&M. You may know already that I love H&M, their stuff matched correctly look amazing, but I was still hesitant with the price. HOWEVER – after I started wearing it – I grew to love it more and more! I can’t express why exactly I like it, because logically 1. It doesn’t accentuate my figure, 2. The color gets dirty easily and 3. It’s really not that warm x) But hey, a girl doesn’t always need a reason to buy something – as long as she FEELS fabulous.
