Summer Sets

In the previous post I jotted down my enthused thoughts on wardrobe sets, and here I continue the momentum and return with a newly purchased summer set from shein.com. What instantly attracted me to this ensemble were the little details – the delicate ruffles and the rope-like adjustable strings casually sitting on the top, adding both country and innocent vibes. This was also an outfit that screamed summer which Toronto simply hasn’t gotten enough of this year, so to compensate for it I embrace every opportunity to indulge myself with sunshine. To go with the look, I wore my favorite summer glasses and my star-shaped earrings to add some complimentary warm tones to the outfit with their gold accents.

Styling Waterfall Coat

Christmas and new years in Toronto are always so cold that I find myself constantly shopping for outerwear during this season. I fell in love with this waterfall coat the moment I saw it on sale on Shein.com. I adored the neutral tone and the ankled length – making it a classic timeless piece. In general waterfall coats are versatile, in winter it’s best matched with turtle necks and jeans whereas in spring and fall you can rock it with a simple tee or tank. This coat is medium in thickness so it’s even more flexible and seasons friendly, remember to always wear some pumps for additional sass and flare and let the coat fall beautifully at your ankles. ❤ P.S. Happy new year everyone! I had a great 2016 and I welcome 2017 with open arms 🙂 As a fashion new year resolution, I plan to be more adventurous and open to experiment with new styles, I’m optimistic that pleasant surprises await me 🙂 Outfit Details: Jacket – Shein | Jeans – Zara | Shoes – Aldo | Sweater – Boutique Thank you for reading lovelies, what …

Patched Denim Jacket

Beautifuls, I bring you a recent favourite of mine – denim jacket with patches. Designers often look to the past to design for the future, and here’s a product of that. I remember in grade school I used to love decorating my sweaters and jackets with pins and stickers, who’d think that I was one futuristic cookie? 😎 The jacket I’m wearing is from fashionmia.com – If you love sales and deals like I do, then you’d love this site. I was ultra excited to discover them because they have trendy and affordable pieces without compromised quality. When I received my jacket I remember being so impressed with the material considering I got it on sale for only 15 dollars, such a steal! Definitely check out their site, I just bought another item from their flash sale going on right now! The key to style any contemporary pieces is to embrace simple compliments in the outfit to turn down the loudness, like the monochrome croptop and skirt I have here. It’s also critical to at the same time have other bold elements in the look to turn up the chic, may …

Tie A Knot

Do you ever stare at your closet and find yourself at a lack of choices? And it certainly isn’t from a shortage of clothes, but rather you just can’t find what you need for who you want to be today! It happens to me only all. the. time. But, I am a firm believer of affordable fashion – splurging should only happen on items that I really like, and not to satisfy my need for more choices. This was one of those days, and having said the above – the alternative to buying new pieces, is of course to work with the existing! I’m not good with my needles and yarns, but I’m all up for simpler adjustments involving scissors, and ….tying knots! 🙂 This blue dress-shirt is actually something I wear for work typically under a blazer, and certainly not something I’d consider wearing casually over weekends. I decided to change things up and turned it into a part of this night-out look. It brings a totally different feeling, hence is now a new addition to my wardrobe at no cost! I wore these cute polka dot wedges because I felt …

The Fashionista Award

Thanks Kate for nominating me for The Fashionista Award ! I am very excited as it is my first time doing this! If you haven’t heard about the award, It’s a list of interview questions to be answered by the nominees and allow fellow bloggers to learn more about us! I will also be nominating my favorite bloggers for the award! Here goes my share 🙂 – 1) What motivated you to start blogging? Growing up I’ve always loved to think, my mind doesn’t stop until I’m asleep 😛 I tend to analyze and scrutinize situations, but I find that thinking helps me make better decisions and grow insights. So with all these thoughts in my head, I wished that I could write them down somewhere, like in a diary. But I don’t want my thoughts to stop there on paper – I want to share them with others, hoping to find others like myself, and hoping to inspire. 2) Favorite movies? Too many – I can get pretty emotional, so I love movies that touch my heart and leave an impression, may it …

Touch of Orient

Hello everyone! Hope you are having a lovely Wednesday! After today it will soon be the weekend 🙂 Over the weekend I shot a outfit which I always loved, a very feminine look with a touch of orient. I achieved it by wearing this beautiful blouse. The print reminded me greatly of Ink Wash Paintings from Asia, may it be Japan or China. The water colored prints especially emphasize so. The blouse top has the color black as outline, so with no question I matched it with a black lacy skirt consisted of a black slip, and a layer of flowery lace. I could have picked one of two colors for the shoes to match the look – black or coral. I decided to go with these cute coral heels, to amp up the femininity and also to go with the warmer weather. To tone down the loudness of my shirt, I picked flowery and light colored designs for earrings and my ring. Heres’s more shots of the look! Click on them to view the slideshow! Thanks for viewing everyone! Hope you liked the outfit! …

Pop of Color

The weather in Toronto is gorgeous this weekend! I’m switching my wardrobe to the summer set already! Here’s a little grey dress, one of my favorites to go with the beautiful weather 🙂 I actually got this dress from online (i believe it was YesStyle), for no more than $25 – I was drawn to how flirty this little dress looked, and decided to give it a try, and I can honestly say this is one of my best purchases! It is extremely fitting and comfortable to wear, and the material is not the least bit flimsy. It IS a tad short, so I actually wore safety shorts under :-). The outfit was neutral toned, so I wanted to add a pop of color to welcome summer on its way – my red platforms. I do think the shoes would have looked better with a black dress instead of grey, but dark grey and red work fine together as well, now you know :-). Not only was my dress grey, my accessories are also bordering grey/silver. The …

About Me

Why hello there (: I haven’t yet introduced myself, so I wanted to say… Thanks for stopping by! That First Hello has been my creation since late 2014, a special little space I dedicate to my love for fashion, style and anything beautiful. I am by no means a guru in fashion, I am simply an enthusiast and agree with Blair Waldorf that fashion is a powerful art – it’s movement, design, and architecture all in one. It shows the world who we are and who we’d like to be. I love sunshine, green tea, designer bags and bookstores. But what I love most, is meeting people, going places, and be inspired. So, will you say that first hello? (: Love, Val ❤
